AUSTRALASIAN STATISTICS.

Sydney, July 4. The statistics of tbe Australasian colonies, for 1888, have just been published, The trade of the various colonies has amounted to £120,859,000, which is equal to a little over £3B per head. Victoria has imported most largely, exceeding her exports by £10,000,000. With the exception of South Australia and New Zealand all the colonies have imported more than they have exported. South Australia shows the largest trade return, which is equal to £39 per head. New Zealand stands sixth on the list in this respect with £22 13s per bend. The total tonnage cleared in the colonies during the year was 14,689,000 tons. There is a total increase of population of 126,000 people. New Zealand heads the list in excess of births over deaths. >
