London, June 16. A vessel just arrived reports passing the barque Staffa on fire and abandoned in th 6 Atlantic Ocean. June 17. The four-year-old daughter of Henry Clarke was so severely burned by -her clothes catching fire that she died on Saturday r evening. At the inquest a verdict of “ Accidental Death ” was returned. June 18. Hews has been received of a horrible barbarity practised at New Calabria,' Upper Guinea, on the occasion of the funeral of the Native King,'! when scores of natives were sacrificed. The Central News Agency is informed that Frank Woodruffe, the waggoner who confessed complicity m'the hiurder of Dr Cronin, has made further confessions in which he imfdieates Arthur Sullivan, P. O’Sulivan, Detective Coughlin, and Macdougall. Maroney and Macdonald, who were arrested at New York on suspicion of being concerned in the murder of Dr,‘Cronin, have been discharged, as it was found impossible to identify them. Zanzibar, Juno 17. It is feared that three of the steamers sent out to take part in the operations under Captain Wissman are imissing. The German fleet are searching for them. Napier, June 18. The hotel at West Olive was destroyed by fire at 7 a.m. The inmates barely escaped with their lives. The insurances amount to £2BOO.
