Tippoo is expected at Zanzibar in October. The Bishop of Limerick has closed the Church at Knockea in consequence of the parishioners boycotting a fdrnier who was accused of “ grabbing.” The letter received from ■ Ujiji States that Stanley and Emin BSy will fcllbw Tippoo Tib to Zanzibar. Information has\ reached here ! that Stanley and Emin Bey are forcing jtheir ! way in the direction of MombasSa, on the eastern coast through 'MSSsailaDd.' Before the Jockey Club to-day, Lord Misrcas Beresford, who was examined on behalf of Lord Durham, confirmed the statement that Wood was guilty of foul riding. He also characterised the jockey as a scoundrel. Lord Marcus acquitted Sir George Chetwyod of guilty knowledge in connection with Wood’s riding. The Times says thit if an English regiment were sent to Victoria it would be welcomed with enthusiasm all- over the colony, and that such a step would have the effect of firmly cementing the loyalty of the colonists. The premises of Schreiber and Schafer, German importers, were destroyed by fire last night. The damage is estimated at £30,000. The insurances amount to £21,000. June 18, The recent exhibition cost the colony £260,000. Sydney, June 17. The cable steamer Sberrard Osborne, when half way to New Zealand, on her jonrney to repair the cable, mat with a terrific gale, and shipped a huge sea, which damaged the deck house,* and wrecked the electricians’ room. The repairs to the latter necessitated a rbturn to Sydney, and it will be three weeks before the damage can be made good. June 18. The Maori football team played Itbeir second match in Sydney to-day against the Uniyersity team. The weathet was fine, and there was a good attendance.
