Lightband, Allan, and Co. bare filed a petition in bankruptcy. The Seamen’s Union have made a donation of £SO to the Dunedin hospital. It is reported that an important discovery of gold has been made in the Karratuna block, on the Corroznandel Peninsula, and that a rush has set in. W. Munro, a Wellington draper, had his discharge suspended in the Bankruptcy Court for 18 months. The Chief Justice said the circumstances showed either gross negligence or dishonesty on the bankrupt’s part. Dour -hundred and eighty names have been enrolled for the Tailoresses* Union at Dunedin. It is suggested that a guarantee fund be raised in case a strike should take place before the funds accumulate. Another phase of the volunteer embroglio which has arisen through the misconduct at the Easter encampment at Auckland is that Lieutenant Keising, of the Waitemata If avals, has been placed under what is technically termed arrest, as it is asserted that lie showed disrespect to the captain of his corps in not forwarding through him certain correspondence sent to the Brigade office.
