An elderly mao named Harry Crocker swallowed a large quantity of carbolic acid, and died in the Mastorton hospita 1 - on Sunday afternoon. He was an old identity in the district. At the inquest a verdict was found of suicide while temporarily insane. Mr Hastings, secretary to the exhibition, addressed a public meeting at Nelson on Saturday night. He received numerous offers of exhibits. The B shop of Nelson will send pictures if desired, Kate Gallagher, aged seven years, was killed at Ophir, Ot"go, through a bale of cornsacks falling on her. Crossing Hotel, Bald Hill Fiat, Otago, has been burned down. It was insured in the New Zealand office for £si)o.
