The Wanganui Borough Council are about to erect gas works of their own, considering, the ratepayers are unfairly dealt with by the gas company. An explosion of gas occurred in the Newmarket Hotel,- Dunedin, on Tuesday evening. Eats had eaten a hole in one of the rooms, and on the servant entering with a iii'lit an explosion occurred. '*'he servant escaped unhurti Some pictures were blown from the walls, and the|ceiling was cracked.
