Berlin, May 20. Three thousand masons struck for higher wages and a reduction of hoars of Übor to nine, hours a day. The carpenters have now joined tho m»sons on strike, and strikes are now being renewed. At a military banquet, held last night in this city, in honor of the visit of King Humbert, of Italy, the Emperor William, in the course of his speech, referred to,! the unalterable friendship existing between Germany and Italy. King Humbert said that the unity of the two countries was a guarantee of European peace, and that the armies of the respective countries knew how to fulfil the great ta«k entrusted to them by the people. The National Zeitang, in the course of an article this morning, remarks that France is deceiving herself if she thinks it would bs possible to retain or at any rate increase in extent her influence in the Mediterranean during a European conflict if Italy were hostile to any such exhibition.
