CHRTSTOHUROH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addiugton Yards on Wednesday there was a large entry of all kinds of stock yarded. Fat Cattle—The entry this week was the largest that has been yarded for some time, made up principally of inferior bullocks, and there was a fall of about Is per 1001 b. Best bullocks sold as high as £1110s; and heifers-to £9 ss. Others sold at £4 ss, £4i 15s, £5, to £6 15s, and cows as low as X 3 7s Pd, Yeal Calves—Calves sold at 7s, 15s, 18s, and 31s. Eat Sheep—A large entry, and the quality all round good. Prices well maintained. A line of magnificent ewes from the Longbeach estate topped the market at prices ranging up to 15s 4d, while wethers went up to 17s Gd. The ]S T .Z. Loan and Mercantile sold for a Timaru branch, three consignments as follows —25 crossbred ewes at lis sd, 25 do at 10s 9d, 65 do at 10s 6d, 30 wethers at 16s 6d, 30 do at 15s, 31 crossbred ewes at 10s lid, 31 do at 9s. For Mr A. M. Clark, Riverslea Estate, 30 crossbred wethers at 16s 9d, 18 do at at 15s lOd, 18 do at 15s 9d, 18 do at 15s Bd, 18 do at 15s 3d, 32 crossbred ewes at 15a Id, 28 do at 13s lOd. Fat Lambs sold up to 7s 5d and 8s 9d. Store Sheep—-Crossbreds from 7s 6d to lis, crossbred lambs 5s 9d to 7s, crossbred ewes 4s 8d to 6s Bd. The competition throughout was keener than for some time past. Pigs —A large entry. The demand was good, in fact, an advance in prices may be recorded. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETB. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat —During the week there has been a slightly better demand for prime samples of '1 uscan and velvet, but only in small parcels. Millers are still only purchasing for present requirements. Quotations: Prime tuscan, 4s Id to 4s 3d; velvet and red straw, 3s 9d to 4s; medium, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; inferior, 2s 9d to 3a 4d. Oats have been in better inquiry during the week, large 'ota having been purchased for shipment, aud as there are large orders coming to hand for oatmeal, milling samples are in request at from 2s 8d to 2s 9d; short feed, 2s 7d to 2s 8d; medium, 2s 6d to 2s 6|d; inferior, 2s 4d to 2s sd. Barley—There has been a fair demaud for prime malting samples for shipment. Values unchanged viz , prime malting, 3s 7d to 3s 9d; medium, 2s 9d to 3s 6d. B-vegraaa Seed—Undressed samples, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; machine dressed, 4s to 4s 6d. Cocksfoot, 3|d to 4d ; inferior, 2d to 3d. Potatoes —• Potatoes are plentiful and prices a shade easier. We quote Northern grown, £4; Southern, 72s Oil to 755; kidneys, for seed, £5 to £6 per ton. Pigs-Well fed, up to 1801 b, 4d to 4^d; heavy and fat sorts, 3d to 3|?d. Hams, 9d; rolls and flitches, 6|d; farmers' lots hard to sell. Chaff—Good heavy oaten, £3 15s to £4; other sorts, £3 5s to £3 10a j straw (oaten and wneaten), £2. Onions, £l6, and scarce; turnips, 18s to 20s ; carrots, -40 s. Straw (oaten and wheaten), 40s. Hay—Oaten, clover and ryegrass, 60s to 655/ Butter—lOd, and extra prime lid (kegß extra). Cheese—Prime Akaroa, to 5d ; Teinuka factory, sf-d (cases extra, net cash). Egga haye a downward tendency. Honey Extracted, 4|d. Stocks are not as heavy as last year, owing to a lot of foulbrood having been about last summer.

Sheepskins are in active demand, and all sorts are well competed for. On Monday dry crossbreds brought 2s 6d to Gs; do merino, 2s to 4s (3d ; do pelts, 6d to 2a 3d; green crossbreds, 3s Gd to ss; do merino, 2s Gd to 3s; do lambs, 3s to 4s, Hides—There is a good demand for fresh heavy weights in good order, but light and dry hides are difficult to place. Quotations unaltered. DUNBDIN BTOOK MARKET. Grant (Willowbank), 7 cows at £4 I7e Gd to £4 2s Gd.—Mr John Grindlev sold for Mr A. Grant (Willowbank), 7 cows at £4 17s Gd. < Fat Sheep GOO being merinos, the others mixed to prime crossbreds. At the beginning of the sale prices showed a drop of about Is per head on last week's rates, but recovered again before the close. and Co. told for Mr P. McShane (Winchester), 60 crossbred wethers and maiden lambs at from 15s to 14s. John Grindley sold for Mr W. Grant (Elloughton Grange), 6'6 crossbred ewes at 9s to 8s 3d. Fat Lambs—lo2 were penned, and sold at from 7s to 10s, according to quality. Pigs sequently prices were not so good. The greater proportion were prime baconers. All were disposed of at from 5s to 8s for suckers, 14s to 21s for stores, 27s to 37s for porkers, 40s to 56s for baconers, and for some extra heavy weights 64s to 71s. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, May 22. The wheat market is glutted. Chickfeed, 3s 6d; New Zealand milling, 4s 6d to 4s Bd, nominal. Flour — iVew Zealand stone made, £lO 10s to £ll j roller made, £ll 5s to £ll 15s. The oat market is also glutted; heavy feed, 2s 9d to 3s 2d; seed, 3s sd. There is a plentiful supply of maize at 2s 9d to 3s 2d, and the market is declining. Barley—Cape, 3s. The tone of the market is dull. There is a steady demaud for bran at Is Id, Pollard, Is 2d to Is 2£d. Potatoes, New Zealand, £4 10s; Tasmanian, £4 17s 6d ; Circular Heads, £5 2s 6d. Onions—Best New Zealand are scarce at £ls to £l6. The butter market is glutted with inferior qualities. Only the best quality is saleable. Separatormade, Is to Is Id; dairy-made, 8d to lOd. The cheese market is dull, and there is a plentiful supply. Local manufacture, 6d to 7|d; New Zealand, 7d to 7|d. Bacon is scarce at lOd. Hams are in demand at to le e Melboubne, May 22. The wheat market is strong. Prices range up to 5s Bd. Flour, stone leade, £ll 10s; roller brands, £l2, with an u pward tendency. Oats are improved, at 3s 10|d. Barley, feed, 3s 7d; malting, 5s 6d. Maize, 4s 4d to 4s 4|d. Bran, Is 3d. Adelaide, May 22. Wheat—Farmers' lots, 4s lOd; shipping parcels, 5s o£d, at Port Adelaide. Flour—Stone, £11; roller, £l2. Bran, Is, firm ; pollard, Is Id. Oats —New Zealand, 4s 4d. Barley, malting, 4s 3d to 4s 6d. New Zealand oatmeal, in 71b bags, is sold at £2l 10s per ton. Holders of Mauritius best white sugars ask £29, ENGLISH MARKETS. Loirootf, May 21. New Zealand mutton is quoted at 4£d. May 22. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,616,000 quarters, and fer the Continent 360,000 quarters. The American visible supply is 22,375,000 bushels. The English wheat market shows a general decline; the Continental is dull, and the American depressed. Tin plates, second quality charcoal, average, 17s; best coke plates, 14s 6d. Paeis, May 21. A sugar corner here is raising prices. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, haya received the following cable message from Loudon, dated May, 21st, 1889 :--- Wool—The market is firm. The Antwerp sales are brisk, Hemp—The market is easier. Frozen Meat—The mutton market is steady. Canterbury and Wellington mutton is worth 4g-d aud 4fd per lb respectively. Lamb market is quiet. Canterbury lamb is worth 5f d per lb. Beef market inactive. Fore and hindquarters are worth 3fd and 4d per lb respectively.
