AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report pales for the week ending Saturday, 18th May, 1889, 03 follows s At Winchester Pair on Tuesday there was an average entry of stock. In sheep we have no sales to report. We sold a line of forward steers and heifers at £3 14s, 1 cow (springing) at £4 Is, do do at £3 3s, 3 cows with calves at foot at £2 10s ; 3 dry cows at £1 10s, 14 store pigs at 17s 6d to lis 6d. At G-eraldine sale, on Wednesday, the totals yarded for the day were : 3854 sheep, 55 head of cattle, and 9 store pigs. Prices realised:were —In sheep: Crossbred wethers, 4 and 6-tooth (fat), 15s 3d ; do do, 2-tooth (fat), 13s 9d; do do stores, 12s to lis 6d; three-quarter-bred hoggets,ss lid. Cows m full profit, £5 10s. Pigs: Small stores, 13s, lis, 9s 6d to Bs. On Priday we held a clearing sale on account of Mr T; Ft. Crompton, of live and dead farm stock, which was largely attended from all parts of the district. The live stock was put before the public in prime condition, and realised prices which prove that buyers appreciate such quality. The following prices were obtained during the sale:— Crossbred ewes, 4-tooth (in lamb), 10s sd; three-quarter-bred hoggets, 10s 8d; fat heifers, £7 5a to £6 lis; lightweight bacon pigs, £2 lis to $1 15s ; breeding sows, £1 ss; weaners, 7s; draught horses, £l6 to £l4; light harness horses, £l6; farm drays, £l4los to £11; Whitechapel cart, £32. All other lines sold at satisfactory prices. AUSTRALIAN MAEKET3. Sydney, May 21. In consequence of heavy arrivals the wheat market is dull and unsettled, but prices remain at last quotations. Melbourne, May 21. Six thousand bags of wheat have been sold at 5s 7d to 5s Bd. New Zealand oats to arrive have been sold at 3s 9d ex wharf. Adelaide, May 21. Wheat is firmer at 5s Id. Hobaet, May 21, The agricultural statistics just published show an increase of 107,000 bushels of wheat over the preceding season, and a general increase in other grains. Potatoes show an increase of 23,000 tons. ENGLISH MAEKErs. London, May 19. Tallow, mutton, 24s 6d; beef, medium, 245. Linseed, double boiled, Is 9fd per gallon. The English wheat market is declining j the Continental market is dull; American wheat is declining. Off coast cargoes do not meet with ready sale. For Australian new crop on passage, sellers ask 35s ; New Zealand wheat on passage is selling at an average of 34s 9d. Beans average 35s per 5041 hs. May 21. The Antwerp wool sales were largely attended, The advances, as compared with the March sales, were as under : —lO centimes on Buenos Ayres wools, and 15 centimes on Monte Video wools. No Australian wools were offered to-day. Seventeen hundred bales of Australian wool wore sold in the city at |d advance on the prices obtained at last wool series.
