SAMOAN AFFAIRS.
Berlin, May 12. At the sitting of tho Samoan Conference yesterday, the report of the committee appointed to inquire into the question was approved. Mr Kasson, the American Minister at Berlin, and one of the delegates at the Conference, in a speech on the fight which took place between German sailors and Samoans under Maiaafa, exonerated the latter from any blame in the matter, and refused to agree to the demand of Germany for redress Irora Mat»af«. Sydney, May 11. The New South Wales branch of the London Missionary Society is appealing for subscriptions in aid of the bamoans, who are said to be on the verge of famine, Information from Apia stales that all the schools there have been closed in order to allow students to seek a livelihood, and,one letter soys that the natives are on the eve of a bad famine. Die society will require the sum of £SOO to tide over the emergency.
