CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Eriday evening, the 10th inst.; — The large quantities of grain offering during the past week, together with the drooping tendency of the Sydney markets, has had the effect of easing the markets. The shipments being light during the week have necessitated large quantities going into store. Most of the English ships have now completed their cargoes, and, with the exception of small parcels by the direct steamers, we shall not expect to see much wheat find its way beyond the Australian colonies. Oats have a fair demand at last week’s quotations. Barley has had a slightly better enquiry for prime malting. Large lines are being shipped to Melbourne and Adelaide. The condition of grain is at present very unsatisfactory, large quantities being delivered in a sweatty condition. Potatoes are being offered very freely, £3 being asked at country stations, but buyers do not seem inclined to operate. Ryegrass is quiet for the time being, but cocksfoot has a slight enquiry at the low prices ruling. Dairy produce markets are dull, and very’little business is being transacted, The following are our week’s values : Wheat—Tuscan, prime, 3s lOd to 3s lid; pearl, 3s 7d; hunters, 3s 6d to 3s 7d; whole chick wheat, 3s to 3s Id ; broken, 2s 8d to 2s lOd.
