A ROMANTIC STORY.
A New York correspondent tells the following roman lie story : —A beautiful and refined Irish girl has landed at East Boston, from Liverpool, accompanied by an unactractive man named Henry O’Neil, who is several years her senior. They had eloped from Dublin. On landing they were met by two detectives and the Rev. Mr Tighe, of Brooklyn, a relative of the lady, who endeavored to persnade her to return home. The young lady would not be persuaded, and she and her lover were married by the Rev. Mr Jones, of Trinity Baptist Church. The marriage was suddenly decided upon, when the young lady heard a report that her father, Mr James Tighe, of Dublin, was on board the steamer Etruria, due in New York on Sunday. O’Neill was the girl’s father’s coachman, and Maude Tighe formed a marked liking for him when he used to drive her about, and the friendship ripened into love. The girl’s parents objected, and O’Neill was discharged, only to be taken bock, however, in obedience to the girl’s request. Then they decided to elope. Mrs O’Neill is none other than second cousin to the present Duke of Richmond. It is believed that her father, Mr James Tighe, is the son of the Bight Hon. William Frederick Fownes Tighe, who married Emeline, daughter of the fourth Duke of Richmond and sister of the fifth Duke.
