AT A SPECIAL MEETING of the Geraldine County Council held on WEDNESDAY, APHIL 17th, 1889, at 11 o'clock a.m., the following Special Order was made: — That this Council do now strike a Special Kate, in accordance with the Provisions of "The Local Bodies Loans Act 1886," of (l-16th) one sixteenth of a Penny in the (£) Pound on all the ratoablo property in the Woodbury Water Supply .District, for the purpose of providing the interest upon a loan of £SO raised by the Geraldine County Council under the provisions of the " Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886, and Amendment Act, 1887." The said Rate to be an annual recurring Bate for each year, commencing ftom the Firßt of January and ending the 31st December, and to be payable annually in one sum on the Ist day of May in each year (for a period of Twenty-six Years, until the said Loan bo paid off.) The First Payment to bd made on the First Day of Juno, 1889. This Special Order is to take effect on the First Day of June, 1889, and will be eonfirmed at a meeting of the Ge'nldine Ceunty Council to be held on WEDNESDAY, May 29xh, 1889. F. W. TAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of the powers vested in it by "The Counties Act, 1586," the County Council of the County of Geraldine at a Special Meeting held on the 17th day of April, 1889, passed a resolution to the effect that By-Law No. 3, called the Water-Races By-Law, made by the said Council under the said Act on 18th day of July, 1887, and which oamo into force in tho County of Geraldine on the 15th day of August, 1887, be repealed ; and further take notice that at the aforesaid Bpeoial nueting the Baid Oounoil passed a farther resolution to the effect that By-Laws applicable to the whole of the system of Water-Works under the control of the Council and to the whole County of Geraldine should be made, and that the said By-Laws should come into operation on the 15th day of June, 1889. The following are the objects and purport of the said By-Laws : 1. Providing for the proper repair of and the keeping of water-races free from obstructions, and for the construction and maintenance of field crossing?, fences and hedges, by the occupiers of land through which a race or water channel shall pass. 2. Providing for an annuil charge (to be fixed by resolution of the Council) to be paid to the Council by occupiers of land abutting upon or adjaoant to any aqueduct, race, or water channel, the water from which they shall have obtained liberty to use, and as to tho application thereof. 3. Preventing the obstruction of water races either by plaoing or allowing obstructions to remain therein, or allowing busqea or plants to grow so as to obstruct the same. 4. Preventing injuries to water-races or anything appertains thereto. 5. Preventing the driving of vehicles or the conveyance of any material or maohinary across water raoea except at tho appointed T. Punishing persons for interfering with dam?, reservoirs, headworka, buildings, or any other thing appertaining to or used in connection with water races except by permission of the Couneil. 8. Preventing bathing in reservoirs or other parts of water raoes. 9. Providing for the Protection of Rangers and others in the Council's employ in connection with water races. 10. Preventing trespass on or nuisances in water races. 11. Prescribing terras and conditions upon which applications will be considered from Persons desirous of having £. service or branch race for the use of their lands. 12. Providing for the construction of races and as to the expenses thereof. And take Notice that the said Council proposes to confirm bath the above resolutions at a meeting of th« Council to b» held on the 29rH day of MAY next, at tb.9 office of the Council, and that a copy of the said proposed By-Laws is deposited at the Council's Office in Tiraaru, and will be open for inspection by the public during office hourß until the said 29th Day of May next.
