MR EDGELER’S SCHEME.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —Kindly permit me to make krwjypT my views on Mr Edgier as the coming nK for the working men of this district, wWh his settling people on five acres of land. Little do (he people value Ids scheme, or they would awake from their slumber and consider his plans. From what I cap learn it seems to have fallen through ; if so, it is a pity, for Utile do those who pooh-pooh his schemeknow what a valuable c’tizen lives at Belgrove Yil'a, Arowheoua -he is the champion of the working men. Was he not successful in getting ns our homes over our heads made freeholds? In fact, he is the Father of Arowhenua. Look at the prominent positions he has held—(l) He was a candidate for the Licensing Bench ; (2) He was top of the noil for the School Committee ; (3) He was the promoter of the Arowhenua Town Board ; (4) He was top of the poll at the first election of the Board ; (5) He was nearly top at the second election of the Town Board, which by virtue he should be a member at the present time, had he not -

bson unseated by a jealous clique which envied him his position. But let them stop until the general election, when they will see Mr Edgcler M.H.R. fur Gladstone. Then he will be able to ventilate his ideas on the laud sharks, money •sings, and ttyfepleading topics of the day. No doubt he would be on the Ministerial Bunches holding the position of Colonial Treasurer and Minister of Education. No doubt he would make himself heard, and not be there sleeping on the Benches, playing with his fingers, and recording his vote when told to for that one particular party. At all events we would be better represented than at present. 1 trust that my old friend will address us after Parliament has prorogued, and give an account of his past stewardship, which would be very acceptable from our present M.H.R. We will let him see that we have a good man in our midst; that he is not going to do as he 1 kes because his father made his money in this district. His father did not give him his brains out of this district.— Love to all,

Dissatisfied.
