CORRESPONDENCE.

(We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents.) DISTRIBUTION OF JUBILEE TESTAMENTS. TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—l see by your last issue that the Jubilee Testaments were distributed by the Rev. Mr Hamilton to the children of Waitohi School on Tuesday last, and as the Timaru -Committee of the Bible Society had recommended that I should be communicated with, and the Waitohi Committee had made arrangements to that effect with the cognisance of many, not a few may think it strange I did not put in an appearance. The , reason is that I was not aware of that day being fixed upon. True, _ the worthy Chairman of the Committee communicated with me, and then by mutual agreement with Mr Hamilton, who wrote to me asking if Monday would suit for Temuka and Tuesday for Waitohi. In reply I sent word to say that Monday would suit for Temuka, and left the other place to be arranged for when we met on Monday. But as the gentleman who took upon himself to fix the day that suited his own convenience did not intimate to me that he had arranged a day with the Committee, and that the Committee conceived that day satisfactory to both, or seek to find out if the day fixed suited the convenience dl myself or say a word on the subject Whatever, I naturally did not go up on Tuesday afternoon. My absence was no disrespect to the Committee or school, and no evidence that I do not take as much interest in education as tho ministers who turned up on that occasion.—Tours truly, John Dickson,
