A young Englishman, Henry Ashburton, son of a wealthy manufacturer of Leeds,has been married at Standing Eock, Dakota, to a Souix Indian girl, daughter of a chief- Ashburton, who, with a party of tourists, was hunting in the Indian country, became infatuated with the girl and refused to leave her. She exhibited great devotion for him. His friends tried to dissuade him from marrying, but he resisted their advice, and was married in Indian fashion. The ceremony is considered legal by the tribe.
