THE GOVERNOR’S RECEPTION.

Auckland, April 12

Colonel Shepherd refuses to allow the Auckland Volunteers to come down from the Encampment on Easter Monday to form a guard of honor to the Governor. A warm controversy is proceeding. The Mayor twice wrote to Colonel Shepherd, saying that it was the desire of the citizens that the Volunteers should come, but the request was curtly refused. The Auckland members have vainly endeavored to move the officer In command, and a public indignation meeting is now proposed. It is the desire of the V oluptcers they should be at the reception. Peeling is now becoming bitter on the subject.
