" Sir, —During tbe past month no work has been done in connection i with the roads, the weather being in all respects favorable. As, however, the grain season has commenced it will shortly be necessary to put on a surface man for a few days to save more expensive labor in future. The creek near Washington's reserve is much grown up, and requires cleaning for a distance of about 15 chains. I would suggest that tenants of the board occupying land adjoining the creek be allowed ordinary contract prices for clearing same, where they, are willing to undertake the work. The road leading to the station is, being much worn on one side owing" to its being newly metalled. I would suggest that steps be taken to divertj the traffic to the crown of the road; There is a considerable amount of gorse growing on the North Belt and] in Studholme street. Notice has been; given to persons offending in this respect. The cost of filling the hole' near Lynch's, and of making crossings; from Denmark street, would be about £—. Tours, &c,
