OURTBTCHURJU CORN EXCHANGE
The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the sth inst.: —
There has been a more settled rate for produce during the week, and all kinds of grain are being offered freely by growers; and, as values are now more defined, business transacted has been of considerable magnitude. English advices point to a certain loss to those who have charters on hand, and every effort has been made to alter the destination, which if successfully effected will more than likely affect the Australian market. From reports, upon which we can rely, we gather that the yields from the thrashing machines are very encouraging to growers, being fully up to their expectations. Freights to Australia are abundant at a moderate rate.
"Wheat—Prime tuscan is selling at 4s, f.0.b., with a fairly strong demand. Pearl and hunters are not so brisk at 3a 8d to 3s lOd, according to quality. Whole fowl is scarce at 8s 4d to 3s fid; broken at 2s 9d to 3s 3d. Oats—Milling are scarce at 2s 8d to 2s 9d.
