FRENCH AFFAIRS.
Paris, March 17. Foreigners who are partisans of Boulanger, are being expelled from France. March 18. General Boulanger, speaking at Tours, expressed himself in favor of a liberal, tolerant, hospitable, and non-Parlia-mentary Republic, and said it was not possible France could revert to the Monarchical system without encountering a violent upheaval. A fur!her sum of forty million francs is required to tide the Ooraptoir d’Escompte over its difficulties. Of this amount the Bank of France is willing to advance half if the balance is subscribed outside. Altogether, thirty-six million francs have been provided, and shares in the Comptoir have closed at two hundred and twenty francs, Rothschild and the Credit Foncier have offered 5,000,000 francs to help the Comptoir d’Escompte, The bank of Falvande and Co, at Lemans has suspended payment. The liabilities amount to several million francs. By a colliery explosion, in the Department of Gard 12 lives were lost. March 19. Shares in the Comptoir d’Escompte are now quoted at 160 francs. It is believed that tho bank will go. into liquidation, and that it will be reorganised under the title of the Comptoir National.
