MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 15th instant. Present—The Bon. J. B, A. Acland (chairman), Messrs G. J. Denniston, C, Q. Tripp, and R. Thew. The following correspondence was read and dealt with : From the Property-tax Office, forwarding the valuation roll of the district under the new assessment for inspection, and requesting the Board to examine the same and note any omissions or necessary corrections. , . the Controller and AuditorGeneral, requesting the payment of £l, being cost of auditing the board’s accounts for the year ending 31st March, 1888.—Passed for payment. From Mr H. Steadman, in reference to clearing gorso and sweetbriar from land in the Orari river. : From the Chief Surveyor, forwarding plans of the proposed new road through reserve 2195 to give access to section 30203. Passed for the purposes of the Pubic Works Act.—The clerk was in. structed to forward the plans to the solicitor tor the purpose of having the road vested in the board under the Public Works Act. From Mr W. Wbeelbsnd, requesting the board to repair the fences along the the embankment leading to the Rangitata bridge, and to improve the road in front ef his house. —The overseer ta take such steps as may be necessary. From Mr J. Pithie, requesting that the ford across the road leading to Tripp’s cutting be lowered.—The overseer to see Mr Pithie in reference to the matter. The overseer was directed to erect a footbridge across the ditch in front of the church at Peel Forest. Accounts to tho amount of £BB 15s 7d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
