GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundoll and Co. report sales for the week ending Saturday, sth March, 1889, as follows : At the Geraldine Monthly sale on Wednesday, notwithstanding the continued dry weather and "the parched condition of the pastures, the yarding of stock was good, and prices realised satisfactory to vendors, as the following quotations will show : Sheep— Crossbred wethers and ewes, fat, 10s; crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 4-tooth, stores, 9s Id; crossbreds, 2-looth, Ss fid to 7s 6d 5 crossbred limbs, 8s 2d, 7s 2d to 6s Id ; crossbred ewes, 6s, 5s 6d to 4s 6d ; full-mouthed crossbred owes, 4a 6d to 4s; merino ewes, station sheep, 3s 8d ; culls do, Is 7d to Is 4d. Cattle —3-year-old steers, fat, £5 7s 6d to £4 12s 6d ; fat eows, £4 to £3 10s; cows, springing and forward in calve, £4 to £3 5s ; steers and heifers, 2-year-old, £1 15s; yearlings, £1 2s; calves, 10s to 7s 6d. Pigs—Strong stores, 18s; medium store?, 6s to 5s j weaners, 3s. WBMUtUMUaWMUMg M«—3BW Horn Wotere (John Wesley) Te Rorenga, Chief of Mokau, Auckland, died on Saturday night. He was well-known as the leader of the party of Maoris who committed the White Cliffs massacre, when the Rey. Mr Whitely and others were murdered. Heatbstock, the residence of Mr Lance, M.H.R. for Cheviot, 14 miles from Waikari, was totally destroyed by fire on Sunday night. Insurances are for £ISOO in the Union Company, £730 of which is re-insured in the Victoria Company,
