The Earl of Aberdeen was banquetted by the National Liberal Club. Replying to- the toast of his health, the guest of the evening said he was gratified that Mr Parnell had been vindicated,

During an interview with a representative of the Pall Mall Gazette, Mr Gladstone stated that he intended to adopt a neutral attitude towards the Government until he saw what proposals they had to; make for Sbttlement of the Irish question.; Ho expressed a ioar that Liberal Unionists v/ould prevent any concession being brongjht forward by the Tories, but as! for himself, he would heartily welcome a settlement no matter from what quarter it came.
Father Stephens, who was arrested on a charge of inciting tenants to withhold payment of rent, declined to Jbo bound over for two years' good behaviour, and was sentenced to six months' i'mpriscroment.
