Melbourne, February 22. Fry's flour mill was destroyed by fire to-day. Mr Moody, tbe manager, entered the burning building, presumably to recover the books and papers, and is now reported missing. Damage to the extent of £20,000 was caused by the fire, Sydney, February 21. Tho papers this morning severely criticise the packing of the Legislative Council. The partisans of the present Government declare that it is the grossest abuse of power that was ever perpetrated in the colony. February 22. Michael Baker, charged with the murder of Charles Fisher by striking him with a stone daring a quarrel at Broken Hill, has been arrested. At a meeting of the freetrade members returned at the recent elections, Sir Henry Parkes was elected leader of tbe party. Brisbane, February 24. A destructive fire broke out last night at Mackay, a town situated on the south bank of the Pioneer river. Nineteen buildings in the principal block in the township were destroyed before the brigade mastered the flames. The damage is estimated ot £15,000. The insurance amounts to only £SOOO. Perth, February 21. A destructive storm swept over the north western portion of the district. Many houses were wrecked and station i properties destroyed. Fourteen thousand valuable sheep perished daring the storm. Hobart, February 22. Two passengers by tbe Tarawora from Melbourne, one named William Flegber and a child named Fleming, died on the passage. February 24,
The steamer Southern Cross has been totally wrecked on a reef at Rocky Cape. Thu crew reached tha shore in safety.
