MURDER EPIDEMIC IN ENGLAND.

A London correspondent, writing on January 11th, says:—“We are experiencing a murder epidemic. The courts of first instance, or the police, are just now engaged in investigating half a dozen or more terrible crimes. I have already alluded to the Bradford case, where a boy of eight years was -mutilated after the Whitechapel mode. The other day a girl of eighteen was missing from her home at Godaiming, in Surrey, and her body was found in the “ .studio ” of a young man named Jenkims, an artist. Jenkins had been paving Lis addresses to the girl, and becoming' apprehensive that she would not marry him he lured her to his “studio,” outraged her, and then despatched her. Burglary with violence is also reviving. The other night a gentleman and his son were leaving then* home at Tanswell Hill about 8 p.m. to go to an entertainment, when the eon, turning round, noticed that the window above the front door was open. The alarm was raised; tw.o men issued from the house, a third appeared in the garden, and chase was given. One, if not more, of the burglars was struck by the pursuers, when another of the / iLgang turned ,round and deliberately lodged a couple of revolver shots in the stomach of the son. This young gentleman—a Mr Atkins—now lies in a critical state. The police have aprehended three men on suspicion.
