Mr Rainbow, tbe master of a boys school at Clive, near Napier, was drowned ou Friday. Two boys who were with him went for a swim and Mr Rainbow perceiving that they were in difficulties plunged in to go to their assistance. He never rose again. The boys were rescued. Mr Hyde, who was wounded during u quarrel at IV Aroha, is in Hamilton Hospital in a critical state. His depositions have been taken. He admits trying lo kick Wood, and the latter struck behind him with a stick, which entered Hyde’s face between tho eye and nose. The wound reaches the base of the brain.
