FATAL BATHING ACCIDENTS.

Dunedin, Feb. 14 A distressing bathing accident oc.curred at Hooper’s Inlet, on the 'l J ofiinsula on Thursday. A family named Storer were down there for a holiday. Agnes and Annie, aged about 20 and 21, went in to bathe. They swam across the current, which ran out to shore there, but in returning they apparently became exhausted as they were observed to sink. The father who was not far off, observed the occurrence, and immediately rushed in, but was swept away by the current and narrowly escaped himself. One body has been recovered. The victims were two fine healthy girls, and in the regretta came in second in the ladies’ race. The father is caretaker in the National Insurance Office. Auckland, Feb, 14 A man named Arthur Selby was drowned to-day whilst bathing in the Waikato river.
