GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, Knowing your valuable columns are open to the public and residents of the whole district, I ven« ture to ask your permission for the undermentioned few lines re Greraldine Road Board and one of its' members.. Not very long ago a gentleman on the l Mount Peel Eoad Board did a kindness to the Board by supplying some cement in the absence of the Overseer, and consequently had to resign. In your paper the other morning I see one of oua Geraldine members had a sum of money given him by the Board to do certain works. Now, Mr Editor, I think it a very strange proceeding for a member of the Board to receive this money, and the other members togrant it to him. He must resign position if he wishes to go in for small contracts, and it would give some, of: the unemployed a chance of tendering as well, and also give the Board more time to devote to the small bird pest, that will ruin half of the farmers in the district before another three years. Thanking you for giving me this spacein your valuable columns, I am, etc., Abtemfs Wabd. Geraldine, Jan. 13th, 1889.
