ODDFELLOWSHIP AT GERALDINE.
An installation meeting of the members of the Victoria Lodge, No. 19, 1.0.0. F., Geraldine, was held on Friday evening last. There was a good attendance of members, Bro. R. Hardy, N.G., presiding. The sick committee reported one member on the sick list. - Correspondence from the Grand Lodge having been read and considered, the balance-sheet for the half year was laid before the lodge and adopted. The installation of officers then took place, Bro. G. H. Patrick, D.D.G.M., and Bro. J. W. Pye, Acting-Grand Marshal, being the installing officers. The following took their seats: —N.G., Bro. 11. Hammond ; Y.G., Bro. T. Bowkett; 'Secretary, Bro. A. Fisher (re-elected); Treasurer, Bro. J. Williams. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the N.G. appointed the following elective officers ; Warden, Bro. J. Pizzey ; Conductor, Bro, J. W. Pye ; 8.5.5., Bro. W. M. Patrick ; L.5.5.,8r0. A. O’Neill; 1.G., Bro. J. Kalaugher; R..H.S, to N.G., Bro, Stonehouse ; L.H.S. to N.G., Bro. C. Ramble ; R.H.S. to V.Q., Bro. J. Pye ; L.H.S. to V.G., Bro. R. Fronting. The necessary sub-committees were also appointed. The receipts for the evening having been announced, the usual votes of thanks to the D.D.Q.M. as installing officer and to the retiring officers were carried, and the meeting was closed in due form. At the conclusion of the installation a social gathering was held, and a more successful entertainment baa never been held in connection with the Oddfellows’ Lodge at Geraldine. In this instance the members departed from their usual custom, and admitted ladies to the gathering. The hall had been tastefully decorated for the occasion, and down its entire length a table was erected, upon which, an excellent supper had been laid. Over 100 persona sat down to partake of the good things which had been prepared, Bro. Hammond, the newly-elected N.G., occupying the chair, and Bro. T. Bowkett, V.G., the vice-chair. The table having baen very considerably lightened, the room, was cleared for dancing, which was indulged in with great spirit. Between the dances songs were rendered by Misses and Stevenson. The latter, who ’jrebut thirteen years of age, sang three timsi, and each time was loudly encored. She certainly deserves a special word of praise for her excellent performance, The remaining soloists were Messrs J. Williams, J, J. Hiekens, Fierce, and M. Nicholls. Dueta ware rendered by Miss and Master Morrison and by Mr and Mrs BowkaPfc. Mr H. Dierck gave a really capital exhibition of sailor’s hornpipe dancing.- Misses Stevenson and Andrews accompanied the singers on the piano. The music for the dance was provided by Messrs Bowkett, Radford, and ColberL, while Mr Patrick made an efficient M.fiO. Dancing was kept up with great spiri t till daylight the following morning. Before separating, Mr Hammond exp ressed the pleasure the members felt at seeing so many present. They hoped t<?, hold such gatherings about once every si x months, and trusted that there would 1 ja as many present on the next occasio n. Altogether the gathering was as suci jessful as could be wished for.
