The Hon. Mr Wolverton and five other Englishmen were on December 2nd elected members of the Mifcbellstown branch of the Irish National League. Lord Salisbury, in a speech at Edinburgh on November 29th, declared him- ‘ self in favor of women suffrage, and said that ho hoped the day was not far distant •when women would be allowed to vote. As Gilbert’s new pl«y, “ Brantmgham Hall” was produced at St. James a, on November 30th,. aud condemned. Gilbert took its cool reception so much to heart that ho refused to appear when some

Fifteen millions of florins were given in charity, on December Ist, at Vienna, in honor of the fortieth anniversary of the Austrian Emperor's reign for buildin? hospitals, churches, and schools. In the case of General Boulanger and his wife, before a Paris tribunal, on December sth, the lady consented to live with her husband, but the daughter insisted on becoming a nun.
