MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board wbb held in: the Road Board office, Pee' Forest, on Friday, the 21st JDst.' Present — The Hon. J. B. A Acland (chairman), Messrs 0. G. Tripp, Robt, Ttiew, and G. J. Dennis♦oud. The minntes of,the last meeting were read aod confirmed. The following correspondence was reid and confirmed. From the clerk of the Geraldine County Council, notifying that the ■econd instalment of the board's coniribotion to the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was now due, and requesting that the same be paid to the board's credit as early as possible.—The amount was passed for payment;'' From the chief survsyor, stating that he would allow one of bis draughtsmen to'plot tip' the'?recenfc surveys on the board's map.if sent to the survey office for that purpose, the board paying the cost of the work.—-The elerk stated that be had sent the maps to the survey office.

From the secretary to the Timaru Harbor Board, calling attention to the npcessity of holding an election on 11th February, 1889, for tbe return of a member to represent the ratepayers of the district on- the harbor board.—The clerk was directed to take the necessary Steps for holding the election. From the clerk to the Geraldine County Council, forwarding plans of a petition for the Orari and Waihi watersupply for inspection. In reference to placing! »footbridge over the creek on the Scotsburn and Peel Forest road, tbe clerk reported that tbe work would be expensive in proportion lo the benefit to be derived, and that he had''''delayed the work "till the board met.—The clerk waß instructed to meet and confer with Mr W. E. Barker on ihe matter.

Resolved—« That the clerk inspect the Lynn River with the view of turning the stream into tbe centre of the riverbed."

After passing accounts, amounting to £164: 128, the board adjourned.
