CONCERT AT WOODBURY.
-A thoroughly successful concert was held at Woodbury on Friday evening last in aid of the prize fund. Mr C. G.,Tr ; ipp occupied the chair, and the room was crowded. The decorations of evergreens, "etc(| usually pufcUibund the walla, were evidently put up with more than ordinary "care,, aud looked particulary well.- The entertainment pro?ided was; of , a very good order, and was fully appreciated. Mi'bs Trauman and Miss Tripp 'opened,- the pro'gramjio with a brilliantly 'rendered ' : pianoforte' overture, that evoked a hearty round. ( pf applause. In the second part the former young lady gave the audience another capital qvorture, and she also accompanied several of ihe singers with •grdat taste. The schoolchildren, under MrrGlanville (secoud master),, next rendered a soDg in a manner that betokened ,a great dealof >'time; l 'and attention most have been devoted, to their trainirjg. They also sang two songs during the eveniog under Mr Greaves (bead master), the time and music in both cases being excellent. Miss Dean was in good voice, sod was loudly applauded for her enjoyable rendering: of the songß 'Anchored' and 'The Miller and the Maid,' : Mr J. ; Thatcher was loudly applnuded for his singipg.of '.Why Rouse theßritißh/Lionl' arid t'.The Mis'letoe Bough.' He was fol-i lowed by Mrs Greaves with. 'The Old! Lock? and .'The Cows are in the Curo,'; both.pf which were artistically rendered.: Miss Andrews was in splendid voice, andi rendered the songs « Where has Scotland found;'her Fame?' and '0 Fair Dove, 0 FondDove,' ia a truly enjoyable man-; ner. l • Miss E. Dean received a thoroughly! well.-raeri.ted;encore for the, song ' Fiddle! and 1/ responding with the last verse.j The same young lady also,rendered . 'The I Gates of the West' in'W manner that evoked a hearty round of applause. Mr Musgrave received an encore for hi 3 sing-j ing 'My Lady's Bower,' and responded with a comic song 'Joßbua.' He also cdntribiited a> German song, and being again encored gave 'The Golden Sea,! another comic song. The old songrj 'Bonny Scotlmd, I Adore Thee,' was 'capitally ei»eu by Mr AitkeD, who was in good voice.' Mr Coventry received ari encore, for; his comic song ' Tut, Tut, Tut! Why Who'd h-ive Thought it ¥ and rei> ■ponded with ' What a Nice Young Man.j The duet .'.What are the Wild Waves Suy r in?'?',by Mr, Aitken and Miss Deun, was thorooghiy enjoyed. The accompaDisfcjs were the Mißse» Trauman and Dem, At theconclueion of the programme a hearty vote' of thanks was passed to the peiiformers, and also to the chairman, for the .grant.assistance they had rendered the Committee. A dance was held after the concert, and was kept up for several hours.
