At Geraldine, tomorrow, Messrs J. Mundell and Co. bold a sale of crossbred and merino wool, and coaohes will meet the north and south trains to convey buyers to the same, At their new wool stores, Orari, Messrs Webster and Macd«nald hold a sale of wool to-morrow. Entertainment at Geraldine. —On Friday evening next the annual school concert and distribution of prizes in connection with the Geraldine Public School will take place in the Oddfellows' Hall. A more than ususually attractive programme uas been prepared for the entertainment. Caledonian Sooietx.—The privileges in connection with the Caledonian Society were sold last Saturday afternoon by Mr K. F. Gray. The lioensed booth was knocked down to Mr A/ B. Allan for £lB, the two refreshment booths to Mr M. Scannell for £4 12s 6d and £4 respectively, and the cards to Mr M. "'cannell for £3 103, making in all £3O 2s 6d. Copper Mine. The manager of the operations at the Woodville copper lode has now struck exceedingly rich ore, and states t hat it is the richest he has ever seen in the colony. A sample is being sent to Fapier to be smelted, but there is no doubt about the ore being exceptionally rich. It is probable ft company will be floated immediately to work it.
Wesietan Ohuboh, Tbmuia.—On Sunday, December 16th, special sermons were preached morning and evening, by the Ber. R. S. Bunn, the occasion being the anniversary of the Sunday school. In the afternoon a children's floral service was held, an appropriate and interesting address being given by the pastor. The prizea will be distributed to-morrow evening;. Tbain Abbangbscbhts.--Ih our odvertisj ing columns it is notified that Saturday return tickets, from any station to any station, available for return till the 15th January, will bo issuer! from the 21st December till the 2nd January, Excursion tickets from Temuka to Chrißtohuroh, Dunedin, Inveroargill, and Kingston will also be issued, and the fares are given. Special trains from Christohurch to Dunedin, and from Dunedin to Christohurch, run on the night of the 24th. The Railway Commissionbbship.— By the last mail from London the Government received a communication from the AgentGeneral reoammending the appointment of a certain gentleman as Chief Commissioner of Railways, but the name is with'held until Ministers have had time to consider the matter. It ia understood that the gentleman is it present holding a responsible position in connection with one of the principal railway lines in Great Britain, and has expressed his readiness to come out to the colony on the salary offered. Temuka Daibi Faotobt.—The monthly meeting of the direotors of the Temuka Dairy Company was held on Friday laet. PresentMessrs J. Brown (chairman), A ustin, Scott, and Cain. Tenders for (oases and for for carting were received, and the following were aooepted : E. Brown, large cheese boxes, 2s 6d ; loaf cheese boxes, 3s, W. Weir, carting at per ton, Is 6d. Accounts amounting to £l3 2s 9d were passed for payment. The seoretary reported that during the month of November 21,599gi15. 71b. of milk had been received, at a oost of £269 19s 2d. Some further routine business was attended to, and the meeting terminated. Catholic School Entirtainment.— The annual musical and dramatic entertainment in connection with St. Joseph's School, Temuka, took place last evening in the Volunteer Hall. The attendance, always good, was on this occasion exceptionally large, and it is almost to be regretted that the larger hall was net secured for the occasion. The rendition by the pupils of the various items of. the programme was such as to elicit most generous applause, and the entertainment as a whole must be characterised as one of the greatest successes yet achieved in this connection. A detailed report will appear ia our next isms. 1.0.0. F. —The usual fortnightly meeting of the Victoria Lodge, No 19, was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Geraldine, on Friday evening last. There was a large attendance of members. Bro. Hardy, N.G., presided. The sick pay of one brother, who was reported by the siok committee to ba still very ill was passed for payment. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The nomination of officers for the ensuing six months then took place as follows:—N.G., Bro. B. Hammond, V.G., Bro. T. Bowkett, Secretary, Bro. A. Fisher (re-elected), Treasurer, Bro. J. Williams. A summons meeting will be held on Friday evening 28th inst., for the election of offioers. It was decided to hold a social meeting on the night of installation, Jao. 11th, to which the members oould invite their friends. The price of admission was fixed at 2s. The receipts for the evening having been announced the lodge was duly dosed by the JS.G.

The yacht Coquette, owned and sailed by Mr Percy Nailer, who had with him two friends, broke up while lying at anchor just outside Akaroa Heads, on Friday night, Nalder and his friends were drowned. The weather was very rough.
