It is alleged that Government instigated the. recent reoonnaisance from Suakiih, in ’order to find an excuse 1 for sending reinforcements! to the garrison. General Greoofell telegraphs that! the enemy are more numerous- than ever, and eager to fight. Orders have been |aent to Cairo to forward strong reinforcements to Suakim at once. The necessary force will be drawn from the troops on the Mediterranean station. A squadron of the 20. h Hussar* and 300 men from the> Welsh Regiment, will also be sent. It is reported that, in the event of the impending attack-on the rebel position failing, Great Britain will embark io a war in defence of Lower Egypt, which would probably result in the reoohquest of the Soudan.
