SAMOAN TROUBLES.
Ajjctlaxd, November 26. By the Manapouri, . froni Sydney,* further particulars are receivedof the war in Samoa, and the attack'by Mata»fa'a troops on the entrenchment of Tamasese's men. The Government troops baviDg been compelled to leave Mulinaa took up their quarters in the district of A.tua. Tamasese and the bulk of his people occupied a strong position in the village of Autuanan, this being the principal fort. Much delay in the prosecution of the war arose from the late arrival of Savair's contingent of Malietoa's army, who bad deferred their decision as to which p«ty they should joic. They at length enrolled themselves with the Malietoans/ and on the 7th and r Bth inait. the vanguard of Malietoa'n army advanced upon the Goveromeqt foijts at Atua,,Mataafa hoped! that with,the advance of the. land for<» , Manoni would send his fleet to sea to meeprthe boats of Tamasese, but Manoni was not prepared a.ad did not send out tbe fleet... XUft lan* attack was led by a comparatiyoly Bm all force of a few hundred men, ant resulted in a heavy loss for the Malietoans, who, however, succeeded in gaining possession of several small forts. The, Government fleet advaoced upon La'uve, but Mataafa and the majority ol bis troops who were encamped them prevented the advance'of "the-'boats* T.i% wounded'of •Mataafi.V party were brought to, Uio ainbuiunce tents provided by Captain Pelly, of ILM.S. Lizard.
