MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Eoad Board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 16th inst. Present —Messrs R. Mackay, C. GK Tripp, GK J. Dennistoun, and R. Thew. The Chairman not being present Mr Tripp was voted to the chair. MINUTES. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. Tenders for No. 16 contract were received and considered—Maintenance of roads in the Raincliff and Sherwood Downs district —Richard O’Neil, £450 for one year; Charles Pye, £305 for one year, and £IOSO for a term of three years—A long discussion ensued upon the advisability of accepting either of the tenders, when it was proposed by Mr Thew, seconded by Mr Mackay, and carried—" That the tender of Charles Pye for three years be accepted.” CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered From the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board in reply to the Board’s letter in reference to the charges for patients in the Timaru Hospital, stating that the charges made were little in excess of those charged in other Colonial hospitals, and the Board would favorably consider any recommendation from the local authority a? to reduction in the charges made to patients not in a position to pay the full amount. From Mr C. J. Harper, in reference to maintenance of roads by contract.

From Mr W. E. Barker, requesting the Board to place a foot plank over the creek on the Scotsburn and Peel Forest road.—The Overseer was instructed to have the request complied with. From Messrs Smithson and Raytnond, in reference to transfer of road line at Allandale and Sherwood Downs. MISCELLANEOUS • The Clerk was directed to write to ' the Chief Surveyor, asking if the ' recent surveys could be plotted up on the district map if forwarded to the Survey Office.

Mr 0. Pye made an offer for all the horses, drays, and other plant at present used by the Board in the Raincliff district, which was accepted. After passing accounts to the amount of £74 15s 6d the Board adjourned.
