DISTRICT COURT.
Timaru—November 18,1888. (Before His Honor Judge Broad). IN BANKRUPTCY. ■ On the first case being called His Honor asked the Deputy Assignee (Mr Beswick) if he had any report to make, and on being replied to in the negative, His Honor drew attention to section 38 of the Bankruptcy Act—- " The Assignee of a bankrupt's estate shall make a report to the Court as to the manner in which he has kept his books of accounts." His Honor said 'that it was the practice in every case in other Courts in which he sat for the Assignee to present his report. The Deputy Assignee stated that Judge Ward had never asked for a report, and the section of the Act had fallen into disuse. His Honor said it was quite clear that the law required it, and the Assignee promised to present a report in future. The following applications for discharge were granted: — Ee Maurice de Harven Duval, Henry Hullen, Alfred James Quelch (Mr White), A. E. Guthrie (Mr Eaymond), William Armitage (Mr Aspinall). Orders were made for costs in the estates of A. J. Quelch, A. H. Guthrie,
and W. Armitage. Ee Julius Siegert, application for admission of proof of debt of McLeod Bros—Mr Kaymond appeared in support of the application, which was ordered to stand over till next sitting. Ee Thomas Askin, notice on appeal against Assignee's decision in admitting proof of debt of Qt. K. Askin.— Mr White appeared on behalf of three petitioning creditors. Mr Hay for the Assignee.--The matter was ordered to; stand over till next sitting. • , ; PBOBATE. On the application of Mr Raymond, letters of administration were granted to Miehael Connolly, executor in the estate of Thomas barrel, deceased.
