THE FLOODS IN THE NORTH.
Masterton, November 12, A heavy flood has occurred at Masterton and surrounding districts. Butt’s camp and contents were washed right away at Kuhin : ”'A Tend is flooded, and propeny Damaged. The Teuui river rose 30 feet. The Rnbaroanga bridge is dangerous, three piles being washed out. Tbe approach to the Haurunui bridge is: scoured. Tbe Waipohua overflowed and damaged property. The railway line north of Kopuarangi is blocked, but 'coaches meet the train and convey mails and passengers north. Wellington, November 12.
The heavy rain on Saturday and yesterday caused Urge landslips at Pukorao, on |he Wellingtoo-Manawatu Railway Company’s line. Several hundred tons of stuff came down, and an engine which was passing on its way to bring men to repair another section of the line was buried. The driver and stoker escaped with slight bruiseS; Passengers and mails exchange trains, and traffic by this means is maintained, but it will be two or three days before goods traffic can be resumed. The line ia also damaged near Linton. WoODVItLE, November 13. At Kumeroa; the stream in flood broke its banks and swept through the village, flooding out several residents, who had to take refuge in the schoolhouse. The morning train from here was delayed about an hour by a slip on the line at the Matawai cutting.
