A.t a meeting at Auckland of the creditors of Arthur T. Eyre, merchant, who is be’ieved to have left the colony, it was asserted that a number of bills due by him and held by various business men in the city were forged. The body of a man, name unknown, was found in the Ngaruroro river, Hawke’s Bay, on Wednesday, The inquest showed the deceased lost his life about three weeks ago. There was nothing on his clothes or in his swag to identify him, and no one is reported missing. Though the body is much decomposed, from its general appearance it is believed to be that of a young man.
During his visit to the Melbourne Exhibition the mayor of Auckland was informed by the gentlemen representing France that although a limited, amount of space had been reserved for Australia at the forthcoming Paris Exhibition all mineral exhibits received from New Zealand wdl have a place in that court, and if by any mischance they could not be well repre- * seated in the mineral court, the Pun's school of mines would exhibit them.
