NEW SOUTH WALES BUDGET.
Sydney, October 31.
The Colonial Treasurer, Mr Burns, delivered his budget speech in the Assembly this evening. The total revenue for the financial ye*r was £9,049,664, and total charges £8,888,074. The estimates to the end of the year show a credt balance of £829,965. The treasurer estimates the charges on the year 1889 at including a sum of £250,000 refuDd for rents from the squatters and rabbit subsidies. The revenue estimates ; inclusive of ' credit balance from year 1888, are £9,243,610,. leaving an estimated surplus of £367,444. The statement referred to the intention of Government to intraduce proposals for water conservation, irrigation and 1 other great .public works to be carried out from funds out of loari; No further taxation will be proposed, • and no legislation 'introduced dealing with the deficit of the years 1885 and 1886, which it is proposed to cover by issuing treasury bills, or short dated debentures. The Treasurer congratulated Parliament upon tke improved prospects of the colony.
