AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT TIMARU.

Messrs Graeie, Maclean and Adam report for the past fortnight, ending Saturday, as follows: —

Horses—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 20th inst. and to-day our entries, although small, included a few fairly good draughts, for which there is a brisk demand, and with the exception of one pair (heavily handicapped) every horse suitable for farm or road work changed hands at full values,. We have buyers for a large number of medium to heavy horses, and owners who wish to sell such should send them forward for next week’s sales. Light horses of the kind offering are not in demand. We quote medium to good draughts at £lB to £25, inferior £lO 10s to £l3. Sheep—At Washdyke on the 18th inst., competition for both fat ,and store sheep was brisk, and most of the ,Hpes f were sold.. The samq remarks apply to the sale this week, with a much larger entry. We sold for various owners, 100 shorn wethers (small) at 8s 2d, 30 shorn ewes at 10s, 80 merino wethers in the wool at 18s, 60 fat ewes (crossbred) at 15s 6d, 70 do do at 14s 6d, 83 wethers at 16s, 40 ewes at 14s 3d, 52 hoggets at 11s Id, 173 do at 10s Bd. Cattle —At Washdyke there has bieen;a fairfamqutifc of business doing in fat cattle, at equal to 20s per lOOlbs, and A slight improvement in the demand for, well-grown stores. We sold - 6 heifers at £7, 2 do at £5 15s, 3 bullocks at £6 2g 6d, 3 do at £5 12s 6d, 5 bullocks (small) at £4, 1 heifer at £5 17s 6d, 11 store cows at £3 Us, 8 steers and heifers at £8 14s, 10 yearlings at 25s to 30s, calves 15s, milkers at up to £6. , Pigs—Only a few forward. We sold sows at 40s to 50s, slips 16s 6d, Skins —At our sale on the 17th inst., we catalogued over 1500 skins. Bidding throughout was spirited, and prices about equal to our last sale, viz., butchers’ crossbreds 5a Bd, 6s 9d, 5s lOd, merinos 8s 4d to 4s Bd. Country crossbreds—Best 4s 6d, 4s 9d, ss, to 5s Bd, seconds 2s t 6 4s.
