GERALDINE COUNTY ANGLERS’ SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Committee of the Ceraldine County Anglers’ Society was held at the Crown Hotel, Temuka, on Monday evening. Present— Messrs DeEenzy (Chairman), Nicholas, Aspinall, K. F. Cray, Findlay, and Flint (Hon. Sec.) It was decided to hold the first fishing competition on November 30th. Aftet some deliberation it was agreed to divide the competition into Iwo classes—one for fly fishing, and one for minnow of any kind; two prizes to be given in each class. As the majority of the com* petitors would probably be provided with the usual fishing requisites, it was decided that the winners should have the option of selecting their own prizes, the value to be fixed by the Society. The following details of the competition were then arranged Class I.—Artificial fly only. Hours, 7 i.m. to 7 p.m.—lst; Heaviest basket, prize to the value of 2ls. 2nd • Largest number of fish of legal size, prize to the value of 15s. 3rd ; Best average, special prize (presented by Messrs Yelvin and Taylor). Class 2.—Any legal bait. Hours, 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. —Jat: Heaviest basket, prize to the value of 21». 2cd : Heaviest * hah, prize to the value of 16s.

No competitor allowed to take more than ■ one prize. Entrance fee to be Is in each dais. * Entries to be made with the secretary before 5 p.m. on the day preceding the competition. No person to be allowed to compete whose subscription is unpaid. All matters to be referred to' the 3 udges, whose decision will be final. ■< Fish caught in class 1 to be weighed either at the Wallingford Hotel, Temuka, or Wolseley Hotel, Winchester, by nine p.m. on the night of competition, If weighed at the stream the weight to be Touched for by some independent person. In class 2 the fish to be weighed at either of the above hotels on December Ist by 10 a.m. It was resolved that Messrs Archer, and DeEentj be asked to officiate judges. Messrs Nicholas, and Mint were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for the Annual dinner, which it was decided to hold at the Wallingford Hotel, Temuka, on the evening of the Ist December.
