Mr Hayter, the Yictorian Government statist, has issued his preliminary tables of the statistics of Australasia. He estimates the total population of Australasia on December 31st at 3,551,751. In horses New South Wales heads the list, and also in sheep, but in cattle Queensland holds the premier position. New South Wales with 46,965,152 sheep, is the only colony above New Zealand with 16,677,445, Queensland holding third place, and Victoria the fourth.
