BURNED TO DEATH.

Melbourne, October 16. A sad case of burning to death has occurred at Mooroopua, in this colony. About two o’clock on Sunday morning a fire was discovered at Doidge’s Hotel, Undera. The night, was close and sultry, without a breath ot wind, and the fire soon spread, The flames were discovered in one of the outbuildings, and it was thought that they could be got under, but the sparks soon communicated : the fire to the main building, and the hotel was a mass of ashes in a comparatively short time, Mrs Doidge, the wife of the proprietor, who was an invalid at the time, was awakened and brought out ef the flaming building, but it• seemed she realised the fact that about £IOO in money was in the house. She rushed into the flames, and succeeded in rescuing some £BO, and went back, though every effort was made to pretent 'her, for the remainder. She succeeded in getting this, but while she Was in the building the piano bad been dragged into the passage way in an endeavor to save it by some men who ’ were lending assistance ; this obstructed Mrs Doidge’s exit, and before she could be rescued she was burnt to death, only the ashes of her body being recovered.
