EMPEROR WILLIAM.
Komi, October 18.
The Emperor William of Germany was accorded a cordial interview with the Pope, which lasted half an hour. 'His Majesty afterwards paid a visit to the Vatican Galleries and St. Peter's Cathedral. A banquet subsequently took place in the Palace of the Quirinai. King Humbert, in his speech said that the Triple Alliance between iGermany, Austria, and Italy had conduced to the peace of Europe and the welfare of the people. He proposed the toast of'' The German Army," which, he said, was the bulwark of the nation and its glory. The Emperor William strongly echoed the allusions of King Humbert to the alliance between Germany and Italy, lie said t that Germany bad won her unity by ! the sword. He said there was an analogy in the history of the two nations, which implied a perpetual agreement .betweon them. He proposed the toast of f The valiant Italian Army," and concluded by expressing his thanks for the splendid reception he bad received. Be decorated Signor Cnspi with the Order of the Black Eagle, remarking that no one had ever deserved it more.' October 14. [The Emperor William and King Humbert beld a review of it he Italian army, consisting of 34,000 men'. Great enthusiasm was shown on the occasion by the people. October 15.
