INTERPROVINCIAL NEWS.

At the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, on Monday, James White, charged with horse stealing and resisting the police, was committed for trial on each charge. White is the man whom the arresting constable shot in the wrist before he was arrested.

An extraordinary number of applications have been made for the Otago School Com. ruissloners’ Rod at Wondonside,. Wakaia, Southland. Twenty-nine sections in all are open for application, ranging from 300 to a faw acres, but the applications were for only twelve of these. There are nearly applicants, as many as 60 for and £5615 has been deposited. The price per acre ranges from £1 7s 6d downwards.

At tbe Supramo Court, Wellington, on Wednesday, Allan W. Gibson, in whose case the jury bad been unable to agree last week, was again placed in the dock. The jury returned a verdict of “Not Guilty,” and the prisoner was discharged. A railway employee named Maboney met with a serioue accident at Addington on Monday. Encumbered with two shovels he attempted to leave the express train before it stopped at the station and fell between a carriage and the platform. He was severely crushed, aod his left leg so badly injured that it bad to be amputated.
