From Mr W. Gunn, Timaru, informing the Board that he was out of strychnine at. present, and offering to obiain them the quantity required at 4s 6i per ounce.— .The overseer was instiinted to get the "'quantity n quired for the season. Kalangher, Geraldiue, asking the Board to reconsider ilnir decision to fine him £1 for exceeding t- ( , time allowed for building the K k*i u footbridge.—The Board decided th»t ibey could not alter their decision, aud uininded the applicant that the damage done to their pile diiver while in his possession had not been charged for. From the Geraldine County Council, enclosing cheque for £Bl ss, being balance of subsidy on rate collectable for the year ending March 31st, 1888. From Mr C. G. Tripp, enclosing rates and cotrecting the Board's statement cf the acreage of his property.—Alterations to be attended to. A commanication was received from the Ttimika Road Board io reply to one from the Boaid, offering to supply 1000 willow stakes ready for bedim./ at Ttmuku »t 26* per 100.—Offer declined. OBABI BITER ENCROACHMENT. Correspondence was read from tho Bailway Department, Wellngton, in rep y to tint from the Board of the 2Q:h 11 t., requesting the Government to euppy ten tons 0 fold rails for protection works on the Orari liver. The Government agreed to supply the tails asked for, pointed fi" for driving, provided that the meihod of using them and the plan of protection was submitted and appeared likely to be successful,— Plaa had been since forwarded. INTERVIEWS. Mr Love, Pleasant Valley, waited on the Board, and asked them to deepen and • widen the drain near bis property on Brophy's road to allow sufficient outlet for the storm water.—The overseer was * instructed to see the place and do tiia work required. Mr Kalaugher waited upon the Boan', and asked them to reconsider their de v eision to fine him £1 for delay in erec'ir g the Kakahu foolbridge. Mr Kalaugher ugred that he had been greatly delayed by the exceedingly wet weaiher that prevailed, and also by having considerable trouble in fixing up the pile driver.—The Board pointed cut that nine weeks had been allowed to complete the aork, which could have been done comfortably in three. In connection with this I wou'd advise that a channel be cir through the bend opposite. This would allow tho fljod water to oacope inucli more freely than at present, and prevent a great deal of damage in the future. The cost would be very small considering the benefit io be obtained.

"Material A supply of about 20 bnrres of cement will be required t>) carry out the. contracts let to-day. I would ask authority to add a chaff-house to the grain store, as we are short of storage room. This would also answer for keeping the wheat in for poisoning, which has to ba kept in= the tool-house at present. A wash-hous" and coal shed are nlso very much required. "W. Sheibi, " Overseer." Tt was decided to make the exchange of sections for gravel reserve. The cemen' was authorised to be obtained, and the buildings suggested by the overseer erected. ACCOUNTS. .Accounts amounting to £194 6? 4d were passed foa payment, and the Board went into Committee on Charitable Aid business.

At a meeting of farmers in Ashburtoo on Saturday Ust. it was reiolverf to form a Farmers' Co-operative A.B«>ciation, and, if possible, that it amalgamate with the Chrißtchurch Farmer*' Association. The South Btitish Insurance Company will pay a dividend of 8 per cent. The net profits for the ye- r exceed £IO,OOO. A pub'ic meeting, under the auspices of the New Zoahind Alliance, was held at Dunedin on Friday evening, but was not very largely attended. Sir W. Fox and Mr T. W. Glover were among the speakers. Resolutions were passed in favor of prohibition of the liquor traffic by direct vote, also that no compensation is legally, 1 qui tab! jr or morally due when a license is refused. Shortly after 5 o'clock on Saturday morning three cottages occupied by A. S. Wills, R. Sowry, and iheßev. J. Wrigley, «t vVoodvi'le, wsre destroyed by fire. Captain Coleman is acting as instructor. At Christchurch Mr John OlUvier, R.M., ant Mr John Holmes have brought an action for criminal libel agaiot Thomas B. Bain, the alleged author of a leaflet containing verses insinuating that Mr Ollivier, who heard and dismissed the charge of " inciting to drink," brought against (he licensee of the City Hotel, had been improperly irlnenced by Mr Holmes, who was counsel for the defendant. At the Supreme Court, Christchurch, on Saturday, Silas Pugsley, for receiving stolen property, was placed 'on probation for twelve months. Frank Masters, for indecent exposure, was sentenced to two yearo' hard labour. The juiy hi the case of A. J. Gibson were unable to agree, and after being looked up all night, were discharged.
