The British ship Derby Park, Captain Rothery, a new steel vessel of 1200 tons, from Port Townsend to Melbourne, with 1,000,000 feet of limber, was wrecked »t Penrybn Island, about the 20th July last. The captain’s wife was drowned. All the rest reached Papeeti in safety, and were forwarded to San Francisco by the British Consul, Mr O. A, A. Talbot. The insurances are unknown. A nine-roomed house, owned and occupied by Mr Cecil Northcote, in George street, Dunedin, was destroyed by fire on Tuesday evening. The fire was caused by a boy setting fire to a curtain.
