TROUBLES IN AFRICA.
Cairo, September 29. A large body of dervishes have hemmed in the British garrison at Wady Haifa, and danger is imminent. Osman Digna has announced bis fixed determination to get possession of the place, and the garrison is exhausted by attacks every night. Tbe fort is expected to fall unless farther reinforcements are sent. [Wady Haifa is an important strategical position situated at the Second Cataract of the Nile, It is in fact the gate of Egypt from the Soudan.J Suakim, September 30. H.M.S. Garnet has compelled the rebels to abandon their trenches nearest the town. Zanzibar, September 29. Most of the German officials from the surrounding districts have now arrived here. They report that the money and powder of the rebels are exhausted, and that during the engagement at Bagamoyo several Germans were killed. Tbe Arabs and blacks on tbe Zanzibar Coast have unite! to make common cause against tbe Germans, and grave fears are expressed for the safety of the missionaries, particularly in the Pasjain district, where hostilities are hottest. Tbe insurgents have assured the representatives of Foreign Powers that the lives and property of their subjects will be respected. September 30. An entire community of Indians, settled at Bagamoyo under British protection, bas been expelled,
