COALMINERS’ STRIKE.

Newcastle, September 26. Large quantities of coal are now being loaded by non-union men, who are under police and military protection. It is considered unlikely that the miners will adopt the report drawn by the committee appointed to mediate between the masters and the men, unless its terms are greatly modified. Sydney, September 28. The mediation committee have dropped the agreement which they h?d drawn np, and now suggest that the miners should return to work and refer the matters in dispute to a board of conciliation, each side to appoint two members and the Chief Justice to appoint two referees.
